FAQ
Common questions
The questions we are asked most, answered plainly. Still unsure? Get in touch and we will help.
Why start with a plan instead of just planting?
A plan is the cheapest part of any garden and the part that saves the most. Drawing the whole garden first means you only build it once, in the right order, instead of fixing expensive mistakes later.
Do I need a full design, or just advice?
It depends on the project. If you want a clear direction you can act on yourself, a consult-and-advise session is enough. For a whole-garden transformation, a full design gives you a scaled plan you can see, cost and build to.
Can I build the garden myself from your plan?
Yes. Many clients take our plan to their own builder, or stage the work themselves over time. The plan is written so anyone can price and build from it, and we are happy to answer questions along the way.
How long does a garden design take?
Most residential designs take four to six weeks from the first survey to a final plan and planting schedule, depending on the size and complexity of the site.
Do you design for how plants grow over time?
Always. We plan for the garden in ten years, not just on planting day, choosing and spacing plants so the design matures gracefully rather than being crowded out.
What areas do you work in?
We are based in Richmond and work across the inner and eastern suburbs. If you are not sure whether we reach you, just ask and we will let you know.
